AAPI Heritage Month
May is AAPI Heritage Month. As a DC-based correspondent covering politics and national news, I'm proud to be part of a growing and accomplished community in broadcast TV news now more than ever. I see new efforts everyday to diversify newsrooms and spotlight talent in major cities across the U.S. But our work is far from done. Representation is not nearly as close as it should be. A new study shows that most TV stations in a top 20 market did a poor job representing their AAPI communities - some with no representation at all. The lack of diversity means we are missing accurate stories and information that play a critical role in news coverage. We need to change that - for the sake of journalism and our future.
