Celebrating STEM Day with Spectrum's talented Sarah Pilla

Sarah Pilla is an Emmy-award winning journalist in SoCal. We connected via a Sat morning coffee call and looking back, I don't think either of us would have predicted she would be my TalentBlvd STEM Day talent feature.

For the past four years Sarah has worked for Spectrum News 1 SoCal covering weather, climate, the environment, and their intersection in our lifestyles. It's clear that her passion for reporting on many of the biggest environmental challenges we face today was making an impression on the Spectrum leadership team.

In the midst of starting a potential job change or a contract renewal, the leaders at Spectrum came to Sarah with a proposition. They had crafted a new role specifically designed to leverage her interests and skills while expanding her reporting on the climate crisis.

The newly created job ultimately transitioned into the Spectrum weather department and Sarah has enrolled as a virtual student with Mississippi State University's meteorology program where she is working toward her meteorology certificate.

This chapter of her career journey is EXACTLY why I developed and launched TalentBlvd.com. There is no greater satisfaction than advancing the career of rock stars like Sarah all within the amazing TalentBlvd.com platform. It thrills me to see female industry leaders like Sarah challenge the historical gender bias of the traditional STEM career path.

BRAVO Sarah Pilla!
