Hispanic Heritage Month and why it matters year-round
As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, let us remember that our heritage is more than our language. Hispanic communities are known for their togetherness and unconditional support; that's what has helped us thrive despite the many obstacles we face, especially when bringing representation to media.
Importance of Hispanic Heritage Month
Did you know that the Hispanic population of the United States as of July 1, 2021, making people of Hispanic origin the nation’s largest racial or ethnic minority — 18.9% of the total population?
Most media companies have long realized that serving the Hispanic communities is good for business, but are still working on the best ways to reach this community. This is why representation matters.
Our stories need to be told by our people. We are no longer a minority, which means that Hispanic/Latino talent can be found if searched for. We can no longer excuse the lack of representation with a lack of available talent. As our communities grow, so are our opportunities.
Valuable community
TalentBlvd seeks to connect multimedia professionals nationwide and create a supportive community. Together, we can thrive by opening doors for each other. Whenever there's an opportunity, we must take it and pave the way for the ones who follow.
Although TalentBlvd is a relatively new platform, we have seen a steady growth of diverse journalists and hiring professionals in our community. We strive to have a diverse community where everyone is represented and our unique insights shared with a wider audience. We hope to enrich your career journey by demonstrating the value of your unique POV, your background and your experience.
We wish to hear from you
We are looking for ways to improve our services by learning from the journalists and hiring professionals we're hoping to support. Although we are proud that TalentBlvd's team consists of talented professionals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, we understand that there is always room for improvement.
Help us become a stronger bridge between journalists and hiring managers. We'll be sharing the experience of Hispanic journalists throughout the month on our feeds. Feel free to message via social media or email us at talentmanager@talentblvd.com if you would like us to share how your heritage has influenced your career journey. We seek to be an unconditional ally year-round. Together we can pave the way for diversity to thrive!
