How To Become Unstoppable in your Multimedia Career
"The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me?" We love the swagger with which our rising TalentBlvd.com journalists approach their careers. They are fearless in the pursuit of their goals in their careers.
Our TalentBlvd Mentors advice rising talent to adopt these five guiding principles to become unstoppable in their multimedia careers:
1. Budget time
If you wake up everyday thinking you are going to be discovered, you're not. Budget time. Talent management is an investment not a part time job. Your career requires ALL of your attention.
2. Learn one new thing everyday
Make an assumption that everything you see is intentional. Become a better student. Be perpetually curious and intentional with all you do for your career. Learn one new thing everyday.
3. Make your skills transferable
There is a fork in the road ahead! You better identify multiple paths and contingencies for your course. Your employer could be bought, could acquire a competitor, or file bankruptcy. Are your skills transferable?
4. Embrace the many chapters
A career is not a sprint, it's more like a marathon that is 35 sprints, one after another. A career is made up of many chapters. They all will require grit and perseverance. Look, at 32 years old you are less than 1/3 into your career. Embrace the 'suck' and move forward with intention.
5. Manage your career’s 'Push and Pulls'
A Career is full of 'Push and Pulls' The most important concept of TalentBlvd is the need to invest in your network, cultivate sponsors, and advocates. You need to manage both the push and the pull to your next role.
