Stephanie Gorin is an award-winning journalist and storyteller with 30-years of experience. She spent 26 of those years working for the Hearst owned television station in Vermont, Northern NY, and part of New Hampshire, WPTZ-TV, NBC5.
She served as the morning anchor at WPTZ for 4-years, moved to Albany, NY to help create WXXA-TV’s 10pm newscast, and returned to NBC5 in 1998 to be the evening anchor. She anchored the 5 pm, 5:30 pm, 6 pm, and 11pm newscasts, along with the 10 pm on the Valley CW.
In 2002 Stephanie helped launch the WPTZ-TV 5 pm newscast, the region’s first of its kind, and a huge success. That newscast is still #1 in the ratings to this day. Stephanie enjoys digging for stories, researching, data-based journalism, and coaching young journalists. She understands the importance of community and public engagement and branding a business. She anchored live from the field and participated in community events.
She has covered just about every beat, from investigative to health, education, crime, financial, features, and enterprise reporting. Stephanie was part of a team that won a New England Emmy Award, along with winning Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, Associated Press Awards, New York State Broadcasters Association Awards, and a Vermont Association of Broadcasters Award.
She has interviewed Oprah, Ben Stiller, Alex Trebek, Betty White, Martha Stewart, and other high-profile celebrities. However, if you ask her, she’ll tell you, the stories she likes telling the most are about neighbors doing extraordinary things.
Stephanie spent 14-years as an Adjunct Faculty member at a State University of New York school teaching courses on writing, reporting, producing, on-camera performance, and developed courses in social media and broadcast journalism. Training the next generation is one of her passions.
She is a Syracuse University, S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications graduate, went on to earn a master’s degree in Administration and Leadership from SUNY Plattsburgh, and a Cornell University certificate in Digital Marketing in 2021. She is always learning, and the Boston native loves the deep dives into new experiences.
As a volunteer, Stephanie won a Lifetime Achievement Award as an American Red Cross Hero, and an award from the local hospital system, University of Vermont Medical Center, CVPH Campus, for her commitment to women’s health.
